H.F. Gehant Banking Co. first opened for
business on May 10, 1897, on the same site as the current Gehant
Bank building in West Brooklyn, Illinois. Despite
considerable competition in larger neighboring towns, founder
Henry F. Gehant believed there was a need for a community
banking institution that focused on the customers' needs.
With $10,000 of capital on opening day, Henry F. Gehant embarked
on his mission to serve his community with excellence, a
personal touch, and the flexibility unique to a local community
bank. Over one hundred years have passed since our founder
made those commitments, and time has tightly woven those values
into the fabric of Gehant Bank's character. While the bank
has grown, and plans exist for continued growth, Gehant Bank
remains family owned and operated. Sharing our founder's
values, staff members remain committed to serving customers on a
personal level with just the right combination of friendliness
and professionalism.
We believe that people still seek to build a
banking relationship based upon trust, respect, and personalized
service. "The customer comes first," is much
more than a slogan, it's our heritage. We are committed to
carrying on this heritage with continued excellent customer
service, a wide array of competitive banking products, and
integration of technology to best serve you. Together with
our customers, we have created a solid financial institution in
North-Central Illinois, and we look toward the future with great
optimism. Gehant Bank desires to contribute to the
prosperity of local communities to support their traditions, and
positively impact each community member.
